Review and interview: Li Minqi on the forthcoming collapse of China’s economy and the capitalist world system

The review on Li Minqi’s book China and the 21st Century Crisis (2016) is followed by an interview with the author made during the conference “Chinese Capitalism in the World System: New Perspectives” that took place on December 12, 2015, at the Global South Studies Center in Cologne, Germany.

Li suggests that while the crisis of the 1970s and 1980s could be solved through the “spatial fix” to China with its abundant cheap labor, the latest crisis will not be fixed. The end of capitalism? A promising outlook and audacious prognosis.
